As of Jan. 1, 2009, adult adoptees who were born in Maine will
have the right to get copies of their original birth documents,
bearing the names of their birth parents and providing a key to
their medical histories. Many Maine adoptees now have birth
certificates that have been altered to show their adoptive
parents' names.
