Here's the town clerk's record.

Mass Archives online index has Edwin Farnsworth 1889 Vol 8 page 231. I cannot find it at familysearch.org. I believe Vol 8 is the Amendments to births - you could go to Mass Archives and look at this vol on microfilm but I doubt you'll find his parents - looks like he was abandoned.
