My mother was born out of wedlock to Blanche Cullen October 1917 in Dubuque Ia. She was left at what was then St. Mary's home for unwed mothers (I believe) and put up for adoption. Later adopted by the Kane family of Rockford Illinois and then eventually married Bernard Marten (Decatur Illinois.
I am trying to find out who the biological father (my grandfather) was. I'm "told" he was Italian and lived in Rockford in 1917.
Blanche Cullen later married a man with the last name of Reese I believe.Blanche and family were originally from the Hazel Green Wisconsin area.
