Looking for descendants of or information on Sally Maria Diggs born in Charles County, MD. She was born a slave in 1851, but gained her freedom in 1860 w/ the help of Henry Beecher. She was taken in by a NY family, name unknown and her name was changed to Rose Ward. She later married James Hunt, a lawyer in Washington, DC. She's said to have died around 1928.
