Your mother is now entitled to request and receive her Original Birth Certificate - the one issued at her birth. The cost is $25.00. It can ONLY be requested via mail. Go to www.adph.org; in the green bar near the top, click on Certificates, Licenses & Permits, in the body of the next window, click on "Adoption Information." Scroll down and click on "Adoptee Seeking Original Birth Information." The click on "Request for Pre-Adoption or Other Birth Certificate from an Alabama Sealed File." She will then know her birth name, her birthmother's full name, age, possibly will learn where she lived at the time, and will also learn where her bmom was born.
