What your friend should definitely know is her date and place of birth.

With that she can apply for a certified copy of the entry the birth register of the place where she was born (ususally 10-15 Euros). The copy of the original birth record will show:

- the name her birth mother/parents gave her
- her date of birth
- her place of birth
- her birth mother's name( if married parents'), date and place of birth
- the adress where she lived when she had the baby
- and in addition the info on her adoption.

An adoptee also has the right to research the mother's/parents' parents and will obtain the complete adoption paper work on request.

I would like to encourage everybody to search for his/her birth parents as it is much easier than people think it is.
