If you are still out there, GeorgiaMay?
My sister Susan (Bond) & I were evacuated to Canada in 1939 and shipped back to England via Halifax N S in Sept 1944. We stayed with distant relatives - Alberta & Reg Clarke with Susan C & Priscilla C at Portland Ave. We tended to lose touch after the war because my mother was deeply upset that I returned (direct into hospital) seriously ill with major ear problems for which the Clarkes, as Christian Scientists, had, allegedly, not sought medical attention for over two years. We received a wedding photo of Susan Clarke & Lorne Brewer, taken in 1957 and heard that Reg & Alberta had adopted a baby boy after our departure & named him "Peter". After that, there has been little or no contact except that we were once visited in Bristol by "Jane Mitchell" - daughter of Dr Mitchell & family who lived opposite the Clarkes in Portland Ave & my sister Susan did meet Alberta C briefly once - after Reg C's death, when she was working at Mont Tremblant ski resort.
As four children during the war, we had some good times and the Clarkes were loving & supportive "parents" throughout - & my sister Susan & I were very unhappy when we first heard we were "going home" - we thought we had been living there all the while! I am sorry to hear about Priscilla's early death and sorry also that we never did get to link up with Susan C/Mrs Lorne Brewer.
Best wishes
Peter Bond,UK.
