Illegal activities are always hidden so the selling of children wouldn't be recorded very much apart from criminal records.

I doubt he was sold...if his birth parents are listed anywhere.
Adoption back then wasn't like it is now...so chances are he was fostered.

IF,,there is a paper trail,,,then doubt there was any selling going on.
