I'm not sure about the ship and I have previously contacted the NARA and they could not find his service records and sent me an extract of his medical records showing the dates he enlisted and was discharged. That I already knew and my brother died in 1995 due to cancer tumors on his brain. He had every intention of recording his service records but due to the tumors and his wife's critical health in the last year and 1/2 he never got around to doing it. I traced every ship he was on up until 10-12 months before he was discharged. His last duty assignment was in San Francisco. I visited him in San Diego just before his ship and he were moved to Treasure Island. I don't remember the name of the ship although I visited it several times over the 2 weeks I was there as a teenager. At this point I believe that I have exhausted all the paths you suggested but thanks anyway for taking the time to respond. BTW, my AF records were burned in that fire and I have copies of the charred remains. :-)
