Hi,
Thanks for your reply and interest.

I have seen this record and although it 'makes sense' I checked it back and that Frederick Atkins did not seem to leave Northamptonshire, whereas my Frederick was stationed in Plymouth, Chelsea, Aldershot, & LOndon at various times throughout his life!, although he could have died whilst visiting relatives in that area as it looks like his place of birth is marked as Syresham, Northamptonshire, or, as the 1861 census has a Frederick Atkins stationed in London and his place of birth is marked as Bucks, the next county to Northamptonshire
My Frederick Atkins was serving in the British Army and it is possible that he died on active service, he could have been living with his family in Plymouth before his death as he is marked as deceased on his son's birth cert Jan 1880

Once again thanks for your help.

Rick
