Hello all,

I am looking for any information on a J.B. Slate in Company E of the 56th Va Inf. I believe he might be my GGGrandfather. The only other thing I can say is his first name was John. He was in Maury Co., Tn in 1860 and then in Weakly Co, Tn in 1870. I haven't done the research on the unit yet to see if they were near this area when the war was over.
If anyone has access to a muster roll, could you check it out and let me know what it says.

Also, on this service record it has a note of Giles B. Slate. I am not sure who this is, but he also served in the 56th Va. Inf. and actually died during the war.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
