According to the Official Records, John B. Villepigue was commanding the Second Brigade, of the First Division,of the District of Mississippi on 10-3-1862.

I think they might have been a little undermanned to be called a brigade(but they were designated as a brigade). It consisted of the 33rd Mississippi Infantry and the 39th Mississippi Infantry.


I didnt see any attached artillery listed in the First Division.

Casualties were listed as 21 Killed,76 wounded, and 71 missing for the Division during October 3-12,1862.
