Surnames: Yslas Islas
Very interesting that there is a connection to de Anza in the Yslas line. My family came from the S. Arizona/N. Mexico area. the name was originally spelled as Islas. Is that the same line as the Yslas? de anza spent some time in that region and so it makes it very possible that the connection is real but also, One of Coronado's men was Rodrigo Isleta. Could Yslas or Islas be a derivative of that? I would appreciate any information that anyone can send me about the Yslas line as I have not been able to go back further than my grandfather.
my email is ayslas@georgeson.com Thanks!

Islas and Yslas are the same name and family. There is a connection between Anza and Islas. While Juan Bautista de Anza never had any children, his brother Francisco had two daughters. One of those daughters, Ana Maria de Anza married Teodoro de Islas form San Miguel de Horcasitas in northern Sonora Mexico.
