I have searched for both John and Jack but to no avail. I don't have an address for him either other than Slaithwaite.

I have been in touch with a chap who uses his mother's surname before his Woodhead surname. He said he knew the name and agreed that my Jack was an Army man but that he had been dead a while now. He has no further information at all.
I don't know Jack's Army number or regiment so am goosed with that line of enquiry. I just keep hoping that as I post to forums someone will just pop up and say 'my Jack was in a Military band.
I live in hope :-)
