I am trying to find this ancestor, who was born in Glasgow in 1877, daughter of William Whitton and Agness Cullen. In 1891 she was living with her father in Barrow in Furness. He died in 1894, in his home town of Arbroath, Her siblings had married or moved away from Barrow by then, so Elizabeth would have been left alone at the age of 17.

There is no sign of her in 1901 English or Scottish censuses, nor can I find death or marriage in either country. I have followed a lead to a Lizzie Whitton, a servant in Canada in 1911, but I am satisfied she isn't the one.

Does anyone have any ideas where Elizabeth may have gone?
