Hi cousin Eloise,
I believe we're 2nd cousins as Philip F. Vealey was also my g-grandfather, though my grandfather was descended from his first wife Adeline Romick (Romig). His name was Philip Aney Vealey and he was adopted out (seems common in the Vealey family) with his sister Lillian Viola Vealey in (1877when Adaline died) to Joseph and Clarissa Dennison in Milan. I guess he didn't know what to do with a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old. I think he figured things out pretty quickly, since he married Eliza Lane the next year. Lillian kept her first name and Pilip Aney somehow became Arcy Dennison but as an adult was know as Timothy Dennison.
I've never traced John Douglas Vealey seriously. I don't have your mother. I show John had 2 marriages. Was your mother's mother Martha Walters or Georgia Stevens?
I have the pictures, letters, etc. of Harley Vealey, John's brother. I could share these with you if you're interested.
I have a letter from the US Government to Philip F. Vealey in Ypsi after the turn of the century. I have a picture of the living Vealeys in 1951 (Lillie, Artis, & Sarah).
As for Jacob Vealey's parentage, I don't have that either. I think it's going to require a lot of foot work in upstate New York. I'll bet you don't even have a definitive death date either, as he seemed to kind of drift away while Polly went on to remarry to Philip Becker and John Whaley.
I have a stack of Brennenstuhl data, but I'm sure there's a lot I don't have. I've counted 37 variations in the spelling. In the 1850 Dundee census it's "Brimmingstool" and the 1860 London Census it's "Breningstall".
I'm in California. Are you in Michigan?
e-mail me so we don't fill up this board and let me know where I can help.
My
jcrwfrd@ix.netcom.com should be good for another month, but in a few days I start the transfer to
jcrwfrd@dslextreme.com.
Bye cuz,
