Barb,
I wrote a cousin of mine telling her about your message. She wrote you, but has not received an answer. I thought that I would try it this way in case I transcribed the email wrong. Here is her message to you.
Barb,

Carolyn Van Norman Babin here....  I wrote you the fwd letter some time ago, but to date have not heard from you.  My cousin in Lake Jackson, TX said she had found on the web you were still looking for someone connected to the Samuel Van Norman born in Holland.     I, too, would like more info on this.

Meanwhile I have found through the net a new third cousin in South Carolina.  we are related through our common ancestor, Hiram Van Norman born in 1800.

I would appreciate a confirmation of my inquiry just to be assured you did receive this and my previous letter.

Sincerely,

Carolyn Van Norman Babin

Dear Barb,

Carolyn Faye Van Norman Babin here....  My cousin (Rebecca Tate Edinger) and I have been working on our ancestry for over two years now together and even years before that separately because we had not "found" each other again after an absence of about 40 years!  That's another story, but results are that genealogy research has brought us together again and we are not only 2nd cousins but the closest of friends!

She was helping me research my father's side (she and I are related on my Mother's side) the Van Norman's and found where you were looking for anyone searching for info on a Samuel Van Norman.  Well, my grandfather was Samuel Berry Van Norman,Sr. who died in the 1940's and as far as I know he was born in the states.  I have been unable to get specific dates from those persons still living that can supply me with dates, so I am having to desperately seek my info elsewhere.  I had been told in the past when my parents were alive that I was "black" Dutch German on my father's side and that my Grandfathers' father came from Holland!...   This Samuel Van Norman you have info on could possibly be my Great Grandfather.  If so I think I even have a photo of him, but was not sure who it was.

My father S.B. Van Norman, Jr. was the first born to S.B.Van Norman,Sr. and his mother died when he was but 2 yrs old.  Then his father re married and had four more children making them half siblings to my father.  My father was sent to be raised by his biological mother's mother father... William Bessie Scheuber.  They were ALL in the same town of Marshall, TX, however, and were pretty close as brothers and sisters, etc., but in adulthood there must have been some separating of ways and association.  Another story.  My father has 3 half siblings still living, but I been trying for a year now and have not been able to find anything. Anyway, I have really been trying to get info on my own, with Rebecca's help.

I hope this Van Norman is a connection.   Are you descended from a  Van Norman line?

I am so anxious to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Carolyn Babin
