Esther Lillevik passed away on December 25, 2006 in Seattle, Washington. She was born March 25, 1921 in Tacoma, Washington, to Olaf and Anna Tveter. She graduated from Stadium High School in 1939. She went to cosmetology school, but decided she would rather “sell apples on the street corner.” Instead she worked as a secretary on the docks in Tacoma and then in Washington, DC during the war. Esther married Omer Lillevik on December 18, 1948, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tacoma. They moved near Cylinder, Iowa where they farmed with Omer’s brother, Orvis, for 42 years. In 1949, Esther’s sister, Agnes Gray, died, leaving her three children, Judy (10), David (8), and Jeffrey (5). The children came to live with Esther and Omer until the summer of 1951 when they returned to their father. In the summer of 1953, Arlene Tveter, another niece, came to live with Omer and Esther until 1956 when she returned to her father. In addition, Esther raised her own children, John (12/3/50), Donald (7/3/53), and Linda (9/22/61). After Omer’s death, Esther moved to the West Coast and resided the last six years in Seattle, Washington near her daughter. Esther is survived by her daughter, Linda Lillevik, of Seattle, WA; her daughter-in-law, Colleen Lillevik, of Liberty Center, Ohio; her grandchildren, Joanna Barnard of the greater Cleveland, Ohio area; John O. Lillevik of the greater Atlanta, Georgia area; and Katie Lillevik of Liberty Center, Ohio; and four great-grand children, three sisters-in-law, Cora Jacobson of Emmetsburg, Ruth Berkland of Cylinder and Helen Barth of Forest City. She is preceded in death by her six siblings; her husband, Omer Lillevik; and her sons, John and Donald Lillevik.
