I always perk up when I see the first name Freeman appear in a Tucker family. My great grandfather was named Freeman Sydney Tucker, b. 1847 in Illinois, d 1920 in Omaha, NE. He gave Freeman as a middle name to one of his sons, and Freeman's brother Larkin named one of HIS sons Freeman, so the name may have some family significance.
I have a LOT of information about Freeman Sydney Tucker, but what I am lacking is much concrete info on his parents. His father was David M. Tucker, who often went by the initials D.M. Tucker. That may have been a family trait as well as I often see Freeman as FS Tucker.
Anyway, David was supposedly born in Virginia in about 1810, supposedly died in his 69th year, in Jersey County, Ill. In his early days he was a plantation overseer, later became a river boat captain in Illinois, and finished out his life as a blacksmith. He married a woman named Hannah Grammar (spellings vary.) All of the above information about David came from Freeman's bio. I only "see" David in the 1850 Federal census in Jersey County, Ill.
I don't suppose you have any Davids floating around in your tree?
