James S and Harriett Elizabeth Long had a daughter, Ella Rachel (other kids: Mary Jane, Ellen Belzora, Elizabeth Frances and Benjamin). Ella married Walter Williamson (Will) Harkins. They had 7 kids, one being Stella Mae. Stella Mae married Jesse Walter Thrasher in Nauvoo, AL in 1916. They had 4 kids, Jesse Jr, Ella Christine, Fay Mildred, and Mary Nell. (also stillborn twin girls in 1926). Mary married JW Johnson in Austell, GA. They had 3 kids, Larry Dennis, Jack Lamar and Stephen Walter. Stephen is my husband!

By the way, Walter Harkins had a 2nd wife after Ella died, Ida Campbell and had 2 more kids. I have traced the Harkins line back to 1776 in NC. The Harkins went from NC (Wake Co) into the Pendleton District (SC and GA), then on to Fayette and Walker Co AL.

Was William born in N Y also? Can you provide any details going further back?

Are you familiar with the Townsend Society and Raynham Halls in Oyster Bay and Norfolk England? The orginal owner of the NY hall was Samuel Townsend, who had a son Robert, who was a spy for Gen. Washington.
