Raymond, the first Tobias in our family found in South Carolina is Thomas Tobias evidenced by a land grant in Craven County. Some think he was connected to the Charleston Tobiases who came by way of New York and appear to have been Jewish - we have found no evidence that he was connected to these folks, or that he wasn't for that matter. He and his descendents appear to have been farmers/planters while those in Charleston were merchants and shopkeepers. I was simply attempting to determine where your Samuel group arrived and stayed to raise their families.
