Dear Val, Have a read of my reply to Pamela in the message above. I also have an interest in your message due largely to the fact that your Joan Thorburn died at Moffat. This is not too far away from Wamphray where our John William Thorburn eldest child Jane was babtised at Newton. There has to be a good chance of a tie-up (connection) somewhere? Your Joan lived to a great age for those years! Our John William Thorburn and Jane (nee Charteris) had these children. Elizabeth Thorburn (my Grt Grandmother) had 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Jane (b. 8 Nov 1838), in Johnstone Parish (babtised 11 Feb 1839, Newton, Wamphray). Grace (b. 8 Nov 1841). William (b. 1 Sept 1843). ELIZABETH (b. 1 Sept 1845). Matthew (b. 29 April 1848). Fanny (b. 3 May 1851). NB. Jane & Grace have the same birthday 3 yrs apart and William & Elizabeth have the same birthday 2 yrs apart! I will look forward to building on all this information.
