Dear Pamela, I have been a bit slow in reply to you - but I am very interested in your information. Immediately I do not see a tie-up (connection) but the families would have to be near related I would imagine. The parents of John Fisher Currie were George Corrie and Janet (nee Fisher). George lived his life as a Currie. These two are buried in the Teregles cemetery about 3kms NW of Dumfries town and I have a photo of the grave headstone there - with my daughter Ruth alondside. There are other family members in this grave as well. George and Janet lived much of their life near the river of Ae - Corseburn (on eastern boundary of the Closeburn Parish) - Whitestaines and Womanrigg. George Corrie/Currie had a brother James who I have corresponded with one of his descendants in Vancouver, Canada. I am keen to find out more about this Thorburn family. I am interested in some of the names you mention as often they are handed down. The George above I have been told had a daughter Henrietta who died in her early teens b.abt.1833? He also had a daughter Agnes who married a Joseph Kerr. She was b.abt.1834? The there is your William Thorburn and our John "William" Thorburn. I will leave this with you in the meantime hoping someone can help to put the pieces together. Where are you in the world Pamala? Best wishes, George Currie - Methven, New Zealand.
