In a sketch about James Thomas he was born @1760, in St. Georges Parrish. He moved to Liberty County about 1807 and he and his wife were members of the Jones Creek Baptist Church were he was a clerk in 1822. This James was a son Gilshot Thomas of Screven. Now the James born in 1760 had a son named James R. who was born 1801 and nothing else is listed about him.
I have a James J. Thomas b. 1801 with father shown as James. The father of my James J. was a clerk and member of the Jones Creek Church @1813 until dismissal in 1825. My question, can anyone prove or disprove that my James Thomas father of James J. Thomas and James Thomas grandson of Gilshot Thomas are one and the same. This would certainly help me greatly. Any help at all in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
