Surnames: Temples, Clark
John,
My husband is descended from James Clark, brother of Larkin Temples' wife, Susan Clark.

James and Susan's parents' names were listed on several applications for Indian funds by descendants [both Clark and Temples].
father: Patrick Clark, b between 1780-1790 NC, d before 1850
mother: Susie [maiden name unknown], b 1775 NC, d after 1850.

Susie Clark is listed on the 1850 SC census, as 75 yrs old and born in NC. Henry is with her. Other family members [Temples and Clark] are on the same page or on pages nearby.

As for information about Susan Clark Temples, here is what I have: She was born about 1810 near Indian Town, NC. Her first known child was born about 1834-1835 near Indian Town, NC. Censuses indicate that most of her children were born in NC, except for some of the younger ones who were born in SC.

By 1851, Larkin and Susie resided in Ludville, Pickens Co., GA. They are listed on the 1860 census in Grassy Knob, Pickens Co., GA. Larkin is on the 1862 salt list there.

In 1880, Susan is listed on the census in Roane Co., TN as the 70 year old mother-in-law of James Neely, whose wife was named Ruth. She and both of her parents were listed as born in NC.

"Larkin and Susan are my gr-gr-gr-grandparents. Larkin was born in 1809 and died in 1866 in unknown place in OK. Susan was born 1809 and died aft. 1880 in Roane Co., TN and is buried in an unmarked (most graves in cemetery are maked only with flagstones) grave in Hall Cemetery."
I am not sure where this person got his information.

Hope this helps,
Melba
