You are going to think I am crazy writing to you. My husbands gr-gr grandfather was born a slave in about 1853(?). Near the end of the civil war the story goes that he remembers soldiers coming and the son of the slave owner Coker, and some other soldiers took he and his family away. One of the soldiers was Bennett Starkey. That is who gr-gr grandfather ended up with. He is actually on the 1870 census of John Starkey census in Hickory County Missouri. George Coker farm worker. I don't know if you are decended from this John Starkey, 1815-1890(?). Bennett is his son, 1842-1915. I really would like to know if you have any paperwork or information about where George Coker came from before ending up with the Starkys. Your mammann was attatched to the photo on ancestry.com of Bennett Starkey. Marie Sellers is also on a lot of Bennett's photos, but I don't know how to reach her. If you could let me know how to reach her or you are able to help me out at all that would be greatly appreciated!
