I believe my g-g-granduncle William Read married Ruby Snell sometime between 1842 (when first wife Silvia died) and 1850. William and Ruby are on the census for Easton, NY for 1850 and 1860. In 1870, there was a Ruby Austin of the same age in Easton, NY living with James Austin. Ruby was not buried with William. I do not have proof but believe this may be the case based on her age and the coincidence of location and censuses. William died in 1867; Ruby was not on the 1870 Easton census as Ruby Read. So I believe she either died before 1870 or was the Ruby Snell who married James Austin.
