Unfortunately, I haven't come across a George Asberry Simmons in my Simmons line. However, I did find an Asbury Simmons, 20 years old, in the 1850 census in Lockwoods Folly, Brunswick, North Carolina, living with his parents, Benjamin and Margaret Simmons, and his siblings. If he is your ancestor, that will give you the names of his parents.
