I am **SO** happy to have just run into this thread!

Samuel Shipler (He seems to have altered the spelling of his last name after his move to Iowa) m. Mary Ann Sisley was my 3rd grandfather (and grandmother). So if I can find the will, referred to in the first post of this thread, then the mystery has been solved!

I did have my Uncle Glen Shipler do the Y DNA test and I got lucky and even though his closest match did not communicate with us, I was able to figure out who he was and follow him back.

The MRCA (Most Recent Common Ancestor) for this match was 6.
Peter Shepler is 5 generations back for my Uncle (who is 90 years old) and 6 generations back for the other person, so this lines up perfectly!
