Jehu Sharbrough was one of the sons of Jonathan Sharbrough, who passed away in 1765 in NC. Jehu's brother, Joseph, is my ancestor. Jehu had four sons, who changed the spelling of their names to Sharber, sometime around 1810. Two stayed in Pasquotank Co, NC, and one went to TN and one to KY.
Many Sharbers still live and farm within a few miles of the land tended by Joseph and Jehu, their father Jonathan, and their sons.
The name Jehu has been passed down as Gehu, Gehue, and Jehue. Most of the old records which say Jehu are transcribed in indexes and on the internet (including the 1790 census) as John. It's an easy mistake to make if you don't suspect that you're seeing an unusual name.
It appears that I'm a couple of years late answering this question.
