I am following up on a slim lead, and wondering if Belinda Bates, married to Stephen Bates in Otsego Co, NY in about 1811 or so, and born in RI,supposedly, is a Scoville. Stephen Bates was a Baptist preacher and a descendant of an early colonist (1645) from Topsfield MA who left for RI. The family was in New London, CT for awhile.
