How unusual that our names are spelled the same. I NEVER run across that. At any rate, my grandmother was Ruth Schmittling, Blanche's sister. In fact, I'm pretty sure I have some photographs of Blanche. Ruth married O.O. Shearburn, and they moved to Sterling, (where I'm from). I've been able to trace the Schmittlings back into France (Alsace-Lorraine), and even have Civil War information on Blanche and Ruth's grandfather, Nicolas Schmittling. I'll send you a report detailing what I have. I would love to hear what you know about the family, and would also like to share photos. Great to hear from you!
