Hi- I'm late to the party, but I heard that the Boutcher's immigrated from France, they were Hugeonots. They ended up in Canada near Montreal. Pierre Boutcher founded the city of Boutcherville (now a suberb of Montreal).

google the town and you will get a lot of info. Later the Boutcher's founded Baptist churches in the US area.

I cannot remember where I got this info. Sorry.

AS the Boutchers emigrated south, the name changed and they finally became the Butchers.
