Audrey Hathaway Rugg McCulloh MOORESVILLE, NC: Audrey Hathaway Rugg McCulloh, 60, of Mooresville, NC, died in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at her home and in the company of her family.
She was born on December 15, 1954 in Licking County, Ohio, to the late Samuel Hathaway Rugg and Katherine Lee Mahood Rugg.
Audrey was a graduate of the University of Alabama, where she was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Sorority.
She later received her Master's degree from Vanderbilt University.
She taught Latin and German at Mooresville Senior High School and was a member of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Mooresville, NC.
Mrs. McCulloh was an avid member of the Thelemites Book Club, Book lovers Book Club, and was founder of the Mooresville Senior High School German and Latin Clubs.
Her students competed successfully in annual state foreign language conventions, performing plays, reciting poetry, etc.
Audrey was proud of her membership in the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America. Audrey had a passion for the languages, literatures and cuisines of several cultures, notably those of German-speaking Europe, Portuguese and French.
Audrey is survived by her husband of 30 years, Mark Richard McCulloh; her sons, Cadwallader "Cad" Grant McCulloh and Danner Lee McCulloh, both of Mooresville; a brother, Danner "Beau" Mahood Rugg and wife, Morena Paoletti Rugg of Columbus, OH; a niece, Meredith Rugg; and a nephew, Samuel H. Rugg.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 8 at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, Mooresville, NC.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
