I am researching my Rude family line in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, and to this point I've relied on census records.
I have a grandmother, born Minnie Rude, who married a Robert Cunningham in the 1930s. Minnie was one of 11 children born to Aaron E. Rude (1870-1944) and Lenora Douglas Rude. Aaron and Lenora were married Jan. 26, 1892 in Wayne County, Pa., and resided in the town of Mount Pleasant (Pleasant Mount Township, same place). Their gravestones in the Wheeler Cemetery in Mount Pleasant are very legible.
Aaron was a son of Miron E. (born 1829 in Pa.) and a Jane Douglass Rude, born 1838 in England (her father is listed only as an R. Douglass in the census records, no other info). They continued to reside in Mount Pleasant.
It is recorded in the 1880 census that Miron E.'s father was from Connecticut and his mother from Rhode Island, but their names are not listed.
Miron E.'s father, according to a family member, was also named Miron, but I haven't yet verified this.
