Having heard no replies I have been able to find out some information about the St. Louis Reichert family. So that anyone else can use this information I will lay out what I have found so far. If anyone has better information I would love to hear from you.

Wilhelm Reichert was born in Baden June 6, 1847, the son of Christian Riechert. Christian Reichert was married to Katherina Elizabetha Riechert, but not clear if she was William's mother or step mother. William had a brother Ludwig born about 1846. This information comes from the German emigration records. The date of the emigration is shown as 1851, but this is probably an error and should be 1854.

The family arrived in New Orleans in January 1855 aboard the ship Gosport.

The family settled in St. Louis by 1860 and is shown on the census and Kennedys City Directory. Christian died sometime between 1855 and 1860 as Katherina is shown in Kennedy's as his widow. The census identifies her two sons as William and Louis.

William Reichert married Magdelana Ost, daughter of George Ost and Johanna Schilling. William had at least six children, including one named William.

William died in 1927.

His mother(?), the real object of my search, remains a bit of a mystery.

Again, this is what I have found but if anyone has a contrary opinion I would love to hear. I know that at one point some direct descendants participated in this message board.
