I believe the Absalom to which you refer in your post did in fact into my line of the Turpin family. The following represents a compilation of notes resulting from interviews with Laura Turpin Dunaway and John Strunk:
Mary Elizabeth Turpin (also known as "Beth", "Bess", and "Bessy"), daughter of James and Jerusa Turpin, was born about 1835 in Tennessee and died about 1924. When her sister, Serelda, was just a little girl, Mary Elizabeth married Absalom Potter, son of Thomas Potter, in Roane County, Tennessee.
It is believed that James died in the 1850s or early 1860s, leaving Jerusa unable to care for the entire family alone. Seeing that Serelda really didn't have anyone to take care of
her, Elizabeth and her husband, Absalom Potter, took her with them to Kentucky. From Kentucky they moved west to Red Cloud, Nebraska. Finally, they ended up in Custer County, Oklahoma. Serelda eventually returned to Tennessee.
Elizabeth died in about 1924 and is buried near the town of Thomas in Mt. Cemetery.
