I made two mistake on a previous posting!

1.) John Phair did not marry Ellen Keeffe! John did marry "a" Ellen; I just dont know Ellen's Surname.

I have copy of the marriage certificate of a; William Phair and Ellen Keeffe, there marriage was solemnized at the Registers Office in the City of Cork in the District of Cork, on 4 July 1849, both of there residences at the time of marriage was; Kilroan or otherwise Ballydeloher, Parish of Cork, Co. Cork, Ireland. There fathers were William Phair and John Keeffe SLC FHL Film #101305 Vol 4.

2.) John's mother was Catherine, born 16 Jul 1778. But his mother wasnt married to William Phair.

This is my fathers GPSJ original research as of 1991; John Phair b. 30 Jan 1803 Dromore, Mallow married Ellen ___?___ . John was the son of Catherine Phair b. 16 July 1778.

Also in my fathers original records; {"A" Catherine Phair married 21 Oct 1837 in Newberry, Mallow to William Barry. My father notes: It appears that William Barry is not the father of John Phair [RIN 469] but not sure. Records from St. Senach's Church of Ireland, Kilshannig parish, Newberry townland, Mallow, Co. Cork, Ireland.}

It could be possible that;
1.) Richard b.1775 and Catherine b.1778 were living in a different Parish at the time of Johns b.1803 birth.
2.) John b.1803 was born out of wed-lock.
3.) Catherine b.1778 was previously married.

So you can see my confusion; was Richard Phayre the father to my John b. 1803.

I have no doubt that John b. 1803 was my 3rd great grandfather and that Catherine Phair b. 16 July 1778 was his mother.

With that said look at the family of Richard Phayre b. 1775 and Catherine b.1778 if there 1st born is John b. 30 Jan 1803 he fits right in, the next sibling being Mary born 10 Nov. 1805.

Im sorry for the confusion.

Hi Michelle~ I am a Phair. And you are right about hitting a brick wall. I would like to converse with you more about the Phair family. I have been concentrating on the Cromwell Army (Two Phair brothers that fled to Ireland. One settled in S Ireland and the other one is N Ireland. I am trying to figure out those two Phair brothers names. Surnames that I am connected are Corban, Crofts, and Pickering. I do know that we are connected with Col Robert Phaire. Any info would help. RE: Emigration etc. We are trying to connect when our Phair came from Ireland to US. Some are in CA and WA State and I do know that there are many in Canada as well, but still trying to solve the puzzle. Hope to hear fro you soon. I HOPE I AM MAKING SENSE.
