David Perry b. abt. 1830 possibly in NY married Betsy Camp in 1857 (unknown where). They are in WI in 1860 and 1870 for the censuses. They move to IA after that.
Children: Alfred, Ida, Clara (Clarissa), Emma (Emeline), Lincoln, William, Byron and David Jr.
Betsy apparently dies and David remarries to Elizabeth (?).
According to old family papers that are not very clear, Elizabeth must have had children from a previous marriage. They were: George and twins, Jessie and Bessie. There is a Henry listed also but things point to the possibility that Henry was Elizabeth and David's child. Henry is included in obituaries as a brother while the 3 step-children are not.
Newsclipping of David's death in 1895:
"David Perry, died Sunday, August 11, 1895, aged 63 years. He had been sick and helpless over a year and a half. A wife, eight children, one brother and one sister left to mourn his departure. The funeral services were conducted in the school house here Monday afternoon by Rev. Mr. Lewis, of Northwood, and his remains were laid in their last resting place in the Carpenter cemetery. The family have the sympathy of their neighbors and friends."
Clara and Byron move back to WI in the 1880s and remain there. Byron was my husband's grandfather.
A trip to Iowa several years ago found no information on David at all. We did find some of his descendants in a cemetery there. (Mason City I believe)
