Looking for anyone with information on family buried in cemetery on the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi, at the site of the Grtindstone Ford. Historical marker mentions that David Burnett had a mill and inn here and that this was a place (ford) where many people crossed going down the trace. A small walk into the woods on the other side of the old trace road is a cemetery with about 8-10 graves. Some markers are illegible and some may be buried below the surface. I tried to remember the names I saw after returning to the car. The most prominent name was Patterson - John, Florence, Jane, children of J.H. and L.H. Patterson, etc. There were also two graves to the side and one was a female with the last name of Morriss (note spelling). I have searched for these names and also the name of David Burnett. Cannot find any of them. Since there was a marker with David Burnett's name on it, there should be something in history on him. Since Morris is my last name, I was curious as to the identity of this Morriss, and why no one has tried to preserve this cemetery. Does anyone have any info or know where I can find any on this cemetery? Was there a settlement there or just the Inn?
