Yes I confirm that I am indeed the person to whom Maureen and Breda are referring. And Mike or Michael are both o.k. I've been urging them to get e-mail addresses because I have some bits'n'pieces to send them.
I am in fact at least three times related to them - first cousin once removed (through their father's father and my father), third cousin once removed (through their father's mother and my mother), and half-third cousin once removed (through their mother's mother and my father). (Phew!)
The O'Shea Tureens, whom I've never met, are my second cousins via my maternal grandmother Mrs. Annie Hurley (nee Shanahan). And so the Tureens are also third cousins once removed of Maureen and Breda' s in the same way that I am.
The connection with the O'Shea Bawns of Comerkane is more tenuous, and something which I've always wanted to clarify. Their maternal grandmother Mrs. Goggin (nee O'Brien) and my paternal grandmother Mrs. Mary O'Shea (nee O'Brien) were the same O'Briens, but we haven't been able to establish the exact degree of kinship YET. So the Bawns would also be related to Maureen and Breda via the same link.
As for Earneen, Maureen and Breda's mother's great grandmother Maureen Ni Hea (O'Shea) and their father's and my great grandfather Patrick were half siblings from there. But there were probably other half siblings or full siblings too?
Do your O'Sheas have a familiar nickname?, and how are you related to the Tureens and the Bawns? Please advise.
