From some research a few years back, I believe the Constantine O'Neal who took an ax to his head by the hand of his wife, and the Constantine O'Neal mentioned in the earlier posts here, who was father of Jackie, Bryant and Charles, are two different men.

The Constantine who died from a blow to the head was a Catholic and lived much of his life in the Colony of Pennsylvania.

Constantine, the father of Jackie O'Neal, operated a mill near Bardstown, KY. I've found no indications that he was Catholic. I would assume he was protestant, possibly Presbyterian.
