Yes, I have copies of the probate records for Mahlon Malon Morgan born 1772 died 1838. I have two sets of paperwork one is where the lawsuit against his will was filed. "The State of South Carolina, County of Oconee, in the Probate Court. Robert F. Morgan Admin. against Plff. Lucinda Morgan and others Defendant." There is also a public notice in the Keowee Courrier dated Dec. 13, 1877. This was published several times. The orig. document is dated 11/3/1877. The final document where the Judge told Robert F. Morgan to sell all the belongings of Mahlon Morgan to pay his debts. Also, in this document it states that Lucinda Morgan was the wife of Mahlon Morgan. That he died without a will. (I would like to see the probate of the will that is mentioned in some of these posts.) I think Mahlon had three wives Elizabeth; Sarah Teague; and Lucinda Morgan. I have a copy of the hand written "will" that states Sarah as his wife and their children. Well, these same Probated statements states the children of Mahlon Malon Morgan and Lucinda Morgan 1798-1865, they are....
James M. Morgan
Louis W. Morgan 1828-1892
Allen R. Morgan 1830-?
Martha E. Morgan 1833-1915
Jeptha N. Morgan 1837-1867
Margaret J. Morgan 1838-1915
Mary E. Morgan Simmons 1837-?
Elizabeth M. Morgan 1834-?
William K. Morgan 1853-?
Samuel L. Morgan 1868-?
Grandchild
Francis E. Shaw
I think that between the three wives that is over 20 children. Whoa...that's a bunch. I do think this could be very hard to figure out. More documentation will be needed.
There are well over 60 pages mostly hand written and are very hard to read, they are copywritten and you are not suppose to post them to the internet. You can obtain copies from Oconee County use their request form from their web site. It costs about $60.00.
This is hard to find info. The county of Oconee is a wonderful place to look for more info. on the Morgan family.
