My great grandfather Antonio Monti came to America from Italy, he had lived on the island of Ischia where he resided in the village named Lacco Ameno. I believe he arrived in this country with his father Angelo Monti in 1895. His mother's name was Luisa Doria. Antonio was around 25 and his father was 49 in 1895. They were both widowers when they came to America. I believe he had a brother named Pietro, but not positive - other siblings as well. My grandfather Antonio Monti was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 15, 1899; his parents were Antonio (greatgrandfather) and Maria Angela Mattera Di Spigna Monti, she was also from Lacco Ameno and was a widow when she married my great grandfather. Greatgrandfather Antonio died in 1925. Maria died in 1906 while giving child birth. My grandfather Antonio Monti died in October of 1993 at the age of 94.
