My great grand father Antonio Monti came from Ischia, Italy in the 1890s with his wife. Her maiden name was Mattera. He was a very good looking man - in his picturehe looks like Omar Sherif (sp?). They resided in the town of Lacco Ameno on the Island of Ischia off the coast of Italy across from Naples. They brought with them his son from first marriage and her son from first marriage. Her first husband was a DiSpigna. He dead at sea. In America (they lived in Brooklyn, New York) they had three other children: a daughter who dead in infancy, my grandfather Anthony Monti and his brother. My grandfather had one child my father Raymond Anthony Monte. I have my great grandparents marriage certificate recorded in Naples. I also have family photographs some of family from Ischia and I have a post card from family in Ischia from the town of Lacco Ameno. I hope you get this. How exciting. I know reside in Charlotte, North Carolina. We have family in New York and Kentucky.

I was curious about the book written by the priest. My grandfather Anthony Monti often mentioned how close the family was to the church and he told me a wild stories about how if a Monti man became a priest something about having a church of his own to run. Well he was always telling stories. He was a wonderful man he was bornin 1899 and died in 1992 at the age of 92. I would like to know more about the book. I've looked at web pages on Ischia and noticed that a Monti ran the local museum. Have you contacted any Monti in Ischia.
