I am hoping you are still checking this web site. My name is Elizabeth. My great great grand mother was Mary Meagher. As in many Irish families she may have been was called by her middle name so her first name has been lost in our family record. In 1944 my grandmother Theresa Carr Branagan was asked to christen a WW ll ship in South Portland, Maine named for Thomas Francis Meagher. (Look it up online by typing in Theresa Carr Branagan and you will see it listed as Thomas L. Meagher which is a typo. At the time, my grandmother had been identified as TFM's grand niece and his only living direct descendant. As you know, his son Thomas Meagher, had died in 1943. It must be that they could not find his grandchild to participate in the christening. So reading that your husband is a gg grandson is wonderful information. To verify my information I have a photo album of the christening event including pictures of the ship and the commemorative plate given to my grandmother that day. Our family also has the wrapped broken bottle. I am hoping you will respond. I would love additional information about the family. Thank you, Elizabeth
