My GGG Grandfather is Walter McFarland born in Bristol, Maine 1821. Married Martha P. Brown in Bristol Maine. Owned and operated the Detroit House Inn/Tavern/Blacksmith shop for over 50 years in Detroit, Maine Served as town Selectman for several years through a 15 year period with J.D. Rackliff, Town Treasurer for 15 years. He lived two doors down from Rackliff's Corner Store/Post Office. Walter died in Detroit Maine on Sept. 22, 1898.

There appear to be two Susan Davis' connected to Walter though. For example: The 1860 Census reads as follows:
