I'm looking for information on Walter McFarland too! I have just learned that my gggg-grandmother was Susan McFarland wife of John Rackliff (Radcliff). from Detroit, ME. In the 1850 census it appears that John is deceased and Susan is remarried to Ezekiel Davis, with the children Andrew (my gf), Susan and Mary Rackliff living with them. There is also a Samuel Rackliff age 14 living with Walter and Martha McFarland. I am going on the hunch that Walter and Susan may be brother and sister.
