I am also looking for McBratneys in the Adams County Illinois area, Accordiing to the Illinois marriage index there is a john Bratney married to a Mahala C Moore 12/31/1881, I am trying to place this John as possibly the son of John and Mary J McBratney with sons: Thomas, William, John, and James. My interest in with Thomas, but tracing all, but no one source I can find ties them all together.
