I have been able to trace my lineage back to a James May (AKA Immanuel Mills) in England. James May may have been born some time in the 1740's. I do not know of any other family members - siblings or parents. I am trying to find more information on James, so I can try and go further back in time.

This is what I do know. James May was tried at the sessions held at the Justice Hall in the Old Bailey held on 11th - 24th September 1771. The case is recorded in the printed papers for that session Number VII Part II page 424 case no. 577. He was found guilty by the Middlesex Jury and sentenced to transportation to Amercia for seven years. He supposedly came to America on the prison ship JUSTITA to Baltimore Maryland.

If you can refer me to web sites or people who do research on the surname of MAY, I would appreciate it. I have not meet or talked with any relatives in England. I would like to make contact. Please let me know if you can be of assistance.
